The Art Department at the College of New Jersey, located in Ewing, NJ
(driving about 40 minutes from Philadelphia and an hour and half from NYC
- public transporation available) is seeking an adjunct professor to teach
an introductory course in interactive design using either Flash or
Director. The course is titled "Experiencing Art" this is a non-art major
course in which students take three week workshops in Sculpture, Print,
Drawing, Computer Graphics and Interactive Design. The course merely
attempts to give non art majors an overview of the various forms of art
making. In the past, the Interactive module has been presented using
Macromedia Director to present fundamental concepts in building
interactive computer applications. The students in the class are divided
into groups of 15 and rotate through the semester from one module to the
next. The course meets Thursday mornings from 8:30am to 11:30am, the pay
is $2835 for the semester, beginning Thursday January 20th through
Thursday May5th. The class is taught in the Macintosh environment with
the latest version of computer graphics software.

Socrates Sculpture Park offers grants and studio residencies for artists to create and exhibit in the Park. The current Asian tsunami disaster made it again evident:
the human being cannot control the destructive powers of nature.

The title: "Tsunami" does thematically not only refer to this or similiar disasters in Present or Past,
but beyond that "Tsunami" is primarily also understood as a symbol for the Inevitable, the Immutable,
for Powers of Nature, Powers of Destiny which cannot be controlled by the human being,
situations of helplessness the human being is irrevocably at the mercy of.
Has he any chance to escape or take influence?

Nearly everybody whereever he may live has made experiences of that kind in one or the other way already.

Artists around the globe are invited to reflect these traumatic conditions of human life and submit art works, documents, texts or any other material connected the thematical context
which can be submitted as digital file .

The residencies will be offered from May through November 2005. All sessions are four weeks, with a six-week session planned for November-December. Residencies are offered to visual (including digital) artists, music composers, environmental artists, landscape and garden designers and architects. Residencies at Artists' Enclave at I-Park are primarily intended for project-specific, as opposed to purely experimental, pursuits. Separate living and working facilities are provided at no charge, with the artist paying his/her own personal expenses (food, transportation, materials). There is a modest participatory element involved in the residency. A $20 application fee is required.

Housed in 2 historic brick buildings, the Refuge is located on Main Street in Basin, a town with history rooted in mining and dating back to the 1860's. The Refuge invites applications for the following fully-funded residencies: 1) Carol Davis Scholarship: provides 1 month of residency at any time throughout the year; and 2) American Indian Scholarship: offered to American Indian artists and provides for to 2-month residencies at any given time. The Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts annually awards $5,000 grants to a limited number of writers and visual artists who live in the central and western counties of New York State. The categories change each year.
