Film and Video 825 is a series of bi-monthly screenings of locally, nationally and internationally recognized film and video artists' work. Our mission is to provide a forum for presenting experimental film and video in Los Angeles. In a city dominated by Hollywood, venues such as ours become a necessity for artists working in time-based media that is outside the mainstream of narrative cinema. Our curatorial vision is open to both shorts and features in experimental, performance, animation, and documentary forms.

its Headquarters activities.

nonprofit organization fostering interdisciplinary academic discourse
and exchange among culturally diverse organizations and individuals
working with art, science and emerging technologies. ISEA publishes a

The Board and membership of ISEA have always been international,
bringing together individuals and organizations from around the world.
ISEA was founded in the Netherlands in 1990 and was hosted there until
1996, when it moved to Headquarters in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. From

Budget Gallery, Los Angeles
"Never Odd or Even" Show
May 10 - May 17, 2005
Opening Reception - May 10, 5-8pm
Deadline for Submissions: May 1, 2005
http://la.budgetgallery.org/
contact julie@budgetgallery.org
-------------
Introduction:
-------------
This show marks the southward expansion of the Budget Gallery to the
Los Angeles metropolitan area.
What we're about:
The Budget Gallery's goal is to provide high art at low prices to
unsuspecting customers. We achieve this goal by organizing gallery
style art shows in the unused public spaces found in urban areas. From
empty walls to empty buildings, the Budget Gallery uses any space that
is available and highly visible during the day. Space is often prepared
with white paint and signage so work will be as professionally
presented as possible. Pieces will be labeled with the artists name,
materials used, and asking price for the work. There will be an opening
reception on May 10th.
All pieces not sold by the end of the opening reception stay up for the
course of the week with a price and contact phone number for interested
buyers. The gallery is in co-opted public space with no security. Any
work not sold at the reception can be sold, stolen, or vandalized
during the rest of the show.
-----------------
Call for entries:
-----------------
All work that meets guidelines will be accepted for the show - in line
with the Budget Gallery's belief that any art is better than the
commercial advertising which dominates most public spaces. Work will
either be purchased, stolen, or vandalized. Artists are encouraged to
make pieces for this show with these inevitabilities in mind. Ideal
pieces should catch the eye, capture the imagination, and invite
extended viewing from passing crowds. Art that addresses the issues of
public space are especially encouraged, but again, all work will be
accepted.
Artists are encouraged to use the Budget Gallery as an opportunity to
show work they may not normally present in other venues. Masterpieces
are not required. Work in media other than the artists primary media is
encouraged, along with older pieces, works in progress, studies, and so
on.
Work should be priced to sell to the general public. All pieces not
sold at the opening will be left on the wall for 1 week, after which
they will be placed elsewhere. Those interested in your piece will be
instructed to remove it, take it home, and contact the gallery
regarding payment. Commission is arbitrary, optional, and decided by
the artist. Work will not be returned.
-----------
Guidelines:
-----------
1. All work must have our entry form attached (download from
http://la.budgetgallery.org )
2. Work must be able to be hung on a wall.
3. Please avoid pieces larger than 40 inches by 40 inches or any piece
heavier than 25 pounds. If your piece exceeds these dimensions, contact
julie@budgetgallery.org before submitting your work.
4. Please deliver art with your preferred mounting hardware supplied.
If no mounting hardware is supplied, work will be hung in the most
convenient way possible (Starting with wood screws, then staples,
twine, or tape).
6. Please submit a slide or digital photo of work (if possible) for our
website.
7. Work must be received by May 1st, 2005
-----------
Submissions:
-----------
Please send all entries to:

Call for donation/ submission of ŒSecrets‚
I need your secrets for a project exploring communication, language and concealment. This
is an open call for truthful and sincere submissions. All submissions will be used in an exhibition with installation of secrets, a final limited edition book, and some secrets (10-15) will be used within individual pieces. I have had a varied response so far with secrets from Australia, Canada, the US, Ireland and the Netherlands. All contributors will be anonymous unless otherwise sepecified. I don‚t expect names (though that would be amazing) but I am asking for the following things:
Submission requirements
a) Your country and other optional info (#‚s 1-5) as many of the following as people are
comfortable with:
1- initials/ 2- (this one I do need) country / 3- city/ 4- gender/ 5- current age
a) A 1 sentence description of your secret (brief but complete to be used as a summary)
c) 1-3 paragraph long description (this is optional as it can be very identifying)
I need your secrets. Short statements, without names, tend to be fairly universal and anonymous (For instance- ŒI stole books from the library‚ or ŒI cheated on my boyfriend‚) and I am open to such pithy contributions- but I would appreciate fuller stories as well and would appreciate the inclusion of c as well as a-b.
My secret is who has or has not contributed- even my notes will not indicate biographical info.
Submissions/ Donations
-may be emailed to 'Secrets' at ineedyoursecrets@yahoo.ca
-mailed to 'Secrets' 15,872 98th Ave/ Surrey BC/ v4n 2v3
please feel free to email Colleen Baran for further information about this project or about the artist

INTRODUCTION
ART TOPOS is a non profit organization, launched in 1996 in Athens, Greece aiming to promote contemporary art in Greece. We have organized many important events in our history and we are very proud to announce a new Internet Art section, which will be available in public the same day with the opening of our “illegal machines” online show.
We seek works specifically on the subject of artists’ copyright and intellectual property in relation to the authorities and the law. Our event as an online art space will be a juried show of works in many media (sound/writing/video/flash/java script/photography/etc.).
The selected works will be presented by ARTOPOS in ART ATHINA, the biggest Annual Art event in Athens, Greece.
CONTEXT
Since authorities have the power to decide arrests and proceed in suing people, many questions are rising about who has the right to arrest or sue artists for their art projects, or even why when an art project has a political, religious or social concept may cause negative responses or even become illegal. Perhaps more information and education on Internet Art would help laws to be constructed, so artists and artworks would be protected.
In response to the recent action in Greece against the work “DWG | Dirty Works Greece” of Dimitris Fotiou, artists, programmers have been upset from the insult of the artwork, the violation of intellectual property, the abuse of privacy and especially the unfair suffering and defamation of the artist.
As a minimum act for the above facts we call all net.artists to submit works.
BACKGROUND
According to the little history of Internet Art, many net.artists have been sued or held under custody when their online art projects were characterized as illegal or caused negative responses. While, at the same time, similar artworks of other artists were represented by institutions and major art organizations and exhibitions.
2004 Ars Electronica winner www.bushin30seconds.org is a website that critically confronts the policies of George W. Bush. The initiators' primary aim is to juxtapose a counterpoint to the US media system that is, in their opinion, not sufficiently critical of the president. The site is an outstanding blend of political commitment and entertaining content. While at the same time John Kinberg was arrested for his “Bikes Against Bush”, www.bikesagainstbush.com, project and he was accused for vandalism, when he was presenting one of the most remarkable interactive projects.
In 1999, etoy, a European art group, staged a two-month global art game called Toywar, toywar.com, which is described by the artists as "the single most expensive performance in art history: $4.5 billion in damage!" In 1999 etoy was sued by Internet toy retailer eToys, which claimed that Internet toy buyers might be confused and potentially offended by the artists' web site (a work of art itself) if they typed "etoy" rather than "etoys" into their Internet browsers. Etoy finally won the case against Etoys.
“DWG | Dirty Works Greece” was an online project satirizing political corruption in Greece: the site was virtually offering illegal services at low prices online, while those services are also offered as favors to citizens by politicians in exchange to votes. With the excuse that the artist was keeping visitors’ personal data for later use, (although the relevant order form of the site was completely inactive, and the hosting server did not offered such a service for a 0 $ hosting website) Dimitrios Fotiou was held under custody, now waiting for the appeal in court. It is noticeable that a similar form of the Skint 1996, www.irational.org/heath/skint/ of Heath Bunting is working properly and the Internet Beggar says to the one who offers an amount: ‘god bless you sir!’
