  calls x 28 pt 1

Message:
Hello All,

I want to drop a short note about the questionably elected despot running our country, and the war he is (heaven) bent on waging. I don't want to turn preachy, and I know that I would probably be preaching to the choir, but I just want to express my own frustration. I want to reaffirm what we already know: that there is a strong vocal growing majority of dissenting Americans. Americans who are outraged at the irrational bully and his posse who are running our country.

This list has a large contingent of international subscribers (especially Europe, and Australia), and I want to let you know that we are ashamed and appalled by his conduct in representing this country. I want to remind everyone on this list to actively oppose this war through all nonviolent means. I especially want to impress upon the Americans importance of contacting the people who run this government, and letting them know how you feel.

one of the great things about the Internet is that large groups of people can organize and distribute information quickly and effectively. The calls and opps listed as an example of this. An even better example of this is the growing online protest movement, spearheaded in part by http://MoveOn.org, which is a member of the http://www.winwithoutwarus.org/ coalition. Move on had a strong role in organizing the U.S. protests on february 15, and was responsible for the first virtual march on Washington about 10 days ago. only in the last three weeks has the press become aware of and begun representing the dissent in this country.

I urge you to at the very least sign up at http://MoveOn.org, March in the next protest, speak about the way you feel, and stand up and be counted

yours,

Michael

Zolt Kovać, Vera Većanski, Vladimir Nikoliē
INVITATION TO RESIDENCY PROJECT COMPETITION
A group of artists from Belgrade has the pleasure of announcing the competition for a 24 hour residential occupation of a Trabant car.
The project includes a three day stay for two persons in Belgrade, the capital of Yugoslavia, and covers travel cost, visas, accommodation and living expenses for three days, and the materials required for the art work to be produced during the project.

The Trabant Residency Project is an annual event, founded in 2002 by three artists from Belgrade who spent full 24 hours in a Trabant car, and devoted all their time to art work, discussing art, reading about art. Their action led to the institution of an international residential programme.

Two artists will be selected among the applicants to participate in the Trabant 03 project. They will spend 24 hours in the old Trabant car, an exhibit at the Last Eastern European Show taking place at the Museum of Modern Art in Belgrade from May 17 to June 15, 2003. They will then take part in the press conference, along with all previous participants of the project. The two artists will then have a two day recuperation stay in Belgrade, which they will be free to spend as they wish.

The works and documentation resulting from the activities in the project will be exhibited in the Last Eastern European Show, and will be returned to the authors after the Show is closed.

The application must include:
1. Contact address and e-mail
2. Short CV (including short history of art work and activities)
3. Visual materials in digital form (maximum 1MB)

The competition is open from March 4th -April 10th and is limited only to artists from EU countries.

Send your applications to email below.

Dublin, Ireland
Irish Museum of Modern Art
Artist in Residency
The Programme provides opportunities for artists to research and develop their work practice, and is open to artists of all nationalities working in any medium by application or invitation. / Poseben poziv slovenskim umetnikom.
www.modernart.ie/Artists/artistsworkprogramme...

The Artists’ Work Programme is the Irish Museum of Modern Art’s studio/residency programme which operates in converted coach houses adjacent to the main Museum building. The Programme provides opportunities for artists to research and develop their work practice, and is open to artists of all nationalities working in any medium by application or invitation.
The Work Programme emphasises the working process rather than the finished product and enables artists to explore new ideas and ways of working in the context of the developing identity of the Museum and its various programmes. The Museum’s 17th-Century architecture and grounds, its Exhibition, Collection, Education and Community and National programmes provide a challenging and dynamic environment within which the definitions of art and artist can be tested.
How To Apply
The artist’s presence on the Programme is funded in terms of studio/accommodation, relevant administrative back-up and a basic living allowance. Specific proposals may necessitate extra fund-raising with which the Museum may assist.
There are two submission dates every year - the 31st of March and the 30th of September. The submission should be accompanied by an official application form and should include CV, visuals & documentation of work and a full proposal for a programme of work. The proposal forms the basis of one to one negotiation with artists. The Artists’ Work Programme is also open to practitioners in other disciplines and occasionally curators and writers where a relevant programme of work is proposed.
The Work Programme studios are programmed approximately a year in advance. There are eight studio spaces, three upstairs studios and five slightly larger downstairs spaces. Each studio has the possibility of accompanying accommodation space, either in self-contained apartments over the studios or in the accommodation block, the Flanker Buiding, which can house five artists at a time.
Public Access
Visitors to the Museum are able to meet artists in their studios to discuss their work, as the artists' schedules permit. This element of the Work Programme is probably the most important, as it helps dispel some of the mystery surrounding the production of art. The emphasis is on providing access to as wide an audience as possible and furthering the understanding of how and why art is made through direct contact with working artists. There are talks, workshops, open days and panel discussions organised around the residencies, all of which are open to the public. Artists participating in the Work Programme are also asked to participate in the Talks Programme.
Rok prijave: There are two submission dates every year - the 31st of March and the 30th of September.
