Media Lab Europe
seeking to recruit a number of Researchers
Based in Dublin, Ireland; Media Lab Europe is a not-for-profit, international innovation laboratory.
http://www.mle.ie/recruitment/index.html
Senior Research Scientists (3 posts)
Post-Doctoral Researchers (2 posts)
Research Scholars (10 posts)
You may know someone who would be interested in these posts, if so, we'd be delighted if you could forward these details to them.
As the European Research Partner of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab, Media Lab Europe's approach to innovation provides a unique environment to explore advanced research and applications (across digital technologies) with no regard for the traditional divisions among disciplines. In tandem, its intentional focus on partnership with industry, academia and governmental organisations reflects the lab's commitment to collaborative research, to the creation of technologies and possibilities that have barely been dreamt of before and to the transfer of research results and applications out of the lab into worldwide use
Media Lab Europe is currently pursuing three broad areas of research activity and interest:
C-sense, (common sense): enabling people and machines with the models and meanings behind knowledge and understanding.
D-sense, (distributed sense): creating peoplecentered applications that run "outside the box", across wired and wireless networks.
E-sense, (extended sense): creating interfaces to technologies that are akin to our natural senses: i.e. intimate, scalable, and selective.
With kind regards,
Ronan Smith
Director, Corporate Relations

Visual Artists
Visiting Artists Program, Weir Farm Trust
(Wilton CT)
The Weir Farm Trust invites professional visual artists to apply to the Visiting Artists Program at Weir Farm National Historic Site. The 2003 program will begin in the summer and continue for one year. Housing and studio space are not provided for this program - rather artists use Weir Farm as an "open air" studio, working on-site as often as necessary. Benefits of the program include a group exhibition of work completed during the program at a Connecticut museum; an exhibition publication and opening reception; the opportunity to present a public lecture, individually or on a panel; a $500 honorarium to help cover travel expenses or supplies. The purpose of the Visiting Artists Program, now entering its 13th year, is to give selected artists the opportunity to create a cohesive body of work based on each artist's personal interpretation of Weir Farm. While the focus is on the creation of work, Visiting Artists are also given access to the Farm's outstanding archives for research on the historical, cultural and physical features of Weir Farm.
Program guidelines can be downloaded off of the website at http://www.nps.gov/wefa
