Malmö Konsthall, which is part of the City of Malmö Cultural Services Department, opened in 1975 and has one of Europe‚s largest exhibition spaces for modern art, with a total floor area of more than 2,000 m2. Every year, Malmö Konsthall arranges exhibitions with a Swedish and international focus, featuring both classics of modern art and contemporary experimental works. The boundaries between the different forms of art are kept open with the aid of associated events such as theatre, films, videos and musical performances. Lectures and debates stimulate public discussion. Proactive educational activities for both children and adults are carried out in parallel with the exhibition programme.

The individual we are looking for has documented in-depth knowledge of Swedish and international modern art as well as a well-established Swedish and international network of contacts.
As Director of Malmö Konsthall, you must have the ability to lead your employees with clarity, sensitivity and enthusiasm.
You have experience of and insight into Swedish cultural policy and social life.
You have good interpersonal skills plus a desire to develop further collaboration between Malmö Konsthall and Malmö Art Museum; the Malmö Art Academy, Lund University; the School of Art and Communication, Malmö University; and other cultural institutions, galleries, etc.
Obviously you possess excellent written communication skills, are experienced at dealing with the media, and are proficient in more than one language.
We offer interesting work in a fantastic work environment and an exciting art region. As Director of Malmö Konsthall you will be a member of the executive committee of the City of Malmö Cultural Services Department.

- To exhibit Swedish and international art of good quality from the 20th and 21st centuries.

two new Digital Residency posts
We are seeking to appoint a Digital Writer-in-Residence and a Digital Teacher-in-Residence for one year full-time starting 1st September 2003.

The trAce Online Writing Centre develops and supports writers working online with new media. Established in 1995 and based at The Nottingham Trent University it is an international leader in its field and encompasses online teaching, research, resources, webdesign services and project management.
Writers for the Future is a two-year action research project managed by trAce and funded by the UK's National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA). It aims to explore innovative ways of writing using the internet and provide criteria for best practice in the emerging genre of new media writing.

Summary
We are seeking a highly-experienced new media writer with a significant portfolio and a growing publication and/or exhibition record for digital work. You will have a national or international reputation and possess excellent skills in HTML and web design as well as the ability to teach online and in person. You will be familiar with writers and the writing community and have proven ability to work independently and with a team.
This post is based partly in the trAce offices at The Nottingham Trent University and partly online at the Writers for the Future website. You will spend 50% of your time developing a substantial piece of your own new media writing for national launch in mid-2004 and 50% of your time contributing to the project's training and support programme both online and offline. In the tradition of trAce residencies you will be required to reflect upon your practice via an ongoing public online journal as part of your development time. There will be many opportunities to benefit from the support, advice and resources of the trAce Writers for the Future team.
Interviews
Short-listed applicants will be invited to come to Nottingham on Friday 4th July 2003 to give a presentation to a small group and attend an interview. You will have at least one year's fulltime experience of teaching in a school at KS2 level, good HTML and web design skills, and a track record in facilitating writing with youngsters. This post is a unique opportunity for a teacher or teacher/consultant to broaden their expertise in the field of ICT and literacy with a leading organisation in the field. It is ideal for teachers wanting to take a new career direction to gain experience which will be of direct use in school or educational consultancy.

FONA Festival of New Art
Besides direct invitations, MMC Rijeka is inviting tenders for a COMPETITION that can be entered by all the artists willing to participate
Festival will consist of six (or more) solo and group exhibitions / projects realised at the aforementioned spaces, all upon an invitation by the organiser. Amongst these shows one will be co-organised with Rijeka Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. This project by Jusuf HadÏifejzoviç (Sarajevo – Antwerp) is titled Installations 1992 – 2003 and will be hosted by Mali Salon Gallery.
Besides direct invitations, MMC Rijeka is inviting tenders for a COMPETITION that can be entered by all the artists willing to participate at the 1st Festival of New Art Rijeka 2003. Applications will be considered by O.K. Gallery expert Board which will consequently choose a certain number of the authors / groups to participate at the Festival. Some of these authors will be invited to realize solo exhibition at the O.K. Gallery in the period 2003 – 2004. Application Form can be found in this document’s attachment or at the MMC web addres.

COMPETITION PROPOSITIONS
1. Only recent works / performances / actions / projects, conceived and realised in period 2000 – 2003 will be allowed to enter the competition.
2. These can be conceived and realised in any media or technique, without limitations.
3. Age, sex, race or nation bear no importance in selection of the authors and works entered.
4. Dimensions are not set by propositions; if any technical, financial or spatial obstacles arise, we suggest that questions regarding work's format, size and type should be solved as agreed. Chosen candidates will be informed on this after receipt and selection of the works.
5. O.K. gallery board will decide the NUMBER of the works of individual exhibitor depending of their conception, quality, dimensions and exhibition possibilities.
6. Filled out application form, together with other materials (photos, slides, CD, video tapes and other) and works are mailed by the authors at their own expense (by mail, personal delivery, DHL or some other way). In the case of loss or transport damage occurred until the moment of the materials' and works' receipt, MMC bears neither responsibility or expense.
7. Author will give MMC a permission to use photos, slides etc. with no charge, with a view to a reproduction inside the catalogue, CD and other concurrent festival materials – unless author explicitly prohibits such a media intervention to the Organiser.
8. State of the received works will enter the Record, and MMC will inform the author of an eventual damage.
9. Work’s return will be effectuated within 3 months from the festival's end (Sept 9th 2003 – Dec 15th 2003) and will be realised in a same packing in which they came, whether by mail, DHL or some other previously agreed transport means.
10. Works' return expenses will be covered by the organizer of the 1st NOVUM / FONA Festival Rijeka. This also applies to the works that will not enter the selection and won't be exhibited.
11. Author will insure artworks during their transport to Rijeka, while MMC Rijeka will cover insurance from the receipt date to the date of the works' return to the author.
12. On account of the selection amongst the authors and works that entered competition, O.K. Gallery Board will meet within a week from the expiration of the Application term (Jun 1st 2003 – June 8th 2003). Author will be informed of the Board's decision within the following 10 days.
13. Authors wishing to learn whether their works are selected for the Festival before the actual mailing of the works are asked to send the following materials until May 15th (as soon as possible!): photos, slides, CDs, video tapes, email and similar, together with the work(s) recordings as well as the work's description (concept), all of this before they actually decide to send (deliver) the actual work. After the MMC Gallery Board Meeting each author will be informed by the Organiser as to what and how should be done in order to timely send / deliver the work.
14. Author is renouncing the right to withdraw works during the actual Festival, unless Organiser agrees about an earlier return.
15. In the case of disagreement, author can apply to a court in authority (Communal Court of Rijeka or some other court, if requested by the author).
2. It is understood that author has accepted Organiser’s conditions formulated in this notice by the act of sending the filled out Application Form for participating at the 1st Festival of New Art Rijeka 2003 (NOVUM / FONA / Rijeka 2003).
Festival of New Art Rijeka 2003 (NOVUM / FONA / Rijeka 2003) will endeavour to become a traditional Rijeka contemporary art manifestation – depending on goodwill and funds of the sponsors: City of Rijeka, County Primorsko – Goranska, Croatian Ministry of Culture or any other potential sponsors.

Festival of New Art – Rijeka 2003. has been founded in 2003 by Multimedia Centre Rijeka (MMC - an independent culture enterprise) within which O.K. Gallery operates. MMC is located in the premises of the PALACH club, founded in 1969. In the spring of 1998 Club has transformed from a rock club and alternative art rally spot into one of the most agile gallery / multimedia show rooms in Croatia. MMC / O.K. Gallery is conceptually orientated towards contemporary art novelty and new media practices. Besides numerous exhibitions in the gallery space that can be classified under the «Plastic Art» term, in the course of the recent years MMC had organised a whole range of both «gallery» and out-of gallery actions, performances, public and urban happenings in the field of a Public Art and Street Art, as well as the numerous Site Specific and Travelling Art actions (e.g. New Croatian Tourism, Goli Island festivals, BALEFEST – Zlobecsport Gallery) and other multimedia type actions. Between 1998 and 2003 O.K. Gallery and other MMC actions have hosted a whole range of the eminent Croatian and foreign artists (KoÏariç, Grubiç, Kulunãiç, V.D. Trokut, Juriç, Maraãiç, S. Stilinoviç, Demur, Martek, Vuãemiloviç, Delimar, ?ukiç, Kopljar, Stelarc, HadÏifejzoviç, M. Seibald & M.K. Zanon, Th. Kwam & F. Oldereid, K. Kelly and dozens of other contemporary artists. On a basis of the acquired experiences MMC Rijeka has decided to organize the FESTIVAL OF NEW ART (1st FONA – NOVUMfest Rijeka 2003) that is going to be held from July – September 2003) in few of the Rijeka's exhibition spaces: Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Rijeka, O.K. gallery, Mali Salon Gallery, Kortil Gallery as well as upon other locations in the city and its surrounding (Goli Island, Bale, Istria...) which - during summer - host Travelling and Site Specific project known under the title «New Croatian Tourism».

Research projects and German hosts are selected by applicants themselves. Details of research projects and schedules must be agreed between applicants and proposed hosts prior to submission of applications.
Applications for extension of research stays already commenced in Germany cannot be considered.
